7/15/2011 on Starz. Captain Jack Harkness, the former Time Agent and con man from the 51st century last seen traveling with the Doctor, ventures to early 21st century Cardiff. There, he becomes a member of Torchwood Institute, a renegade criminal investigation group founded by Queen Victoria to battle hostile extraterrestrial and supernatural threats.

After the team are reunited, Jack ends up realising that he is now the most vulnerable person on the planet. A trip to America by plane ends up turning into a desperate battle to stay alive.

As the government makes plans for Floor 13, Torchwood must go underground. When a burglary turns into a slaughter, Torchwood suspect alien involvement. However, when the investigation escalates into a city-wide assault, Captain Jack realises that the whole planet is in danger.

It is Gwen's first day on the job, and it's not going very well. After accidentally releasing a mysterious gas from a comet that landed, a new type of alien is let loose on the streets - an alien that's addicted to sex. Torchwood must find the inhabited body, and prevent any more deaths from the violent form of sex.

On 7 June 2010, it was confirmed that Torchwood would be returning for a 10-part series and would be a co-production between BBC Cymru Wales, BBC Worldwide and US premium entertainment network Starz Entertainment. John Barrowman, Eve Myles and Kai Owen will all be returning to the series. The new episodes will feature locations from around the world. The series will air in the United Kingdom, United States, and Canada in summer 2011. It will premiere in the United States on Starz on 8 July 2011. It will premiere in Canada on The Space Channel on 9 July 2011.It will premiere in the UK on 14 July. Writers for the series have been confirmed as Russell T Davies, John Shiban, Doris Egan, Jane Espenson, John Fay and Ryan Scott. The series was initially announced under the banner title Torchwood: The New World, but by January 2011 was changed to Torchwood: Miracle Day.
